Hamburger Soup

1/2 lb hamburger | 1/2 tsp salt |
2 onions, chopped | Pinch of pepper |
4 cups water | 3 tomatoes, chopped |
5 medium potatoes | 3 large carrots, cubed |
1 bay leaf | 1 lb. cheese, grated |
If canned hamburger is used, drain and use juice as part of water. Use 1 tsp salt if using fresh hamburger. Potatoes are cubed. Could use 1 peeled tomato. Brown hamburger, onions, and tomatoes. Cook and stir until soft. Add water, potatoes, carrots, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender. Serve hot. Pass shredded cheese to be sprinkled over the top
