Miscellaneous
1/2 cup cornstarch | 2 cups hot water |
1 cup cold water | 1/2 cup detergent |
1 env gelatin | Food coloring |
Gelatin should be unflavored. Combine corn starch and 3/4 cup cold water. Soak gelatin in remaining 1/4 cup cold water. Stir hot water slowly into corn starch. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils and is clear. Remove from heat. Blend in softened gelatin and detergent. Cool and color. (A fun idea: After pictures have dried, iron them from the wrong side. Use it for wrapping paper.) Kingsford's Silver Gloss Starch makes a great fingerpaint if you can find it. Make it very thick; add coloring. Add a little powdered laundry soap. It is fun to paint on white shelf paper. (If you paint on a large cement surface, a little water mixed with paint containing laundry soap cleans up nicely.) After drying, iron on the wrong side. It makes great wrapping paper. It is very stiff, tears easily, and takes a lot of scotch tape.
