Jazz Player's Crockpot Stew
Main Dish
1 lb beef stew cubes | 1 onion, chopped |
2 potatoes, chunked | 1 can crushed tomatoes |
8 small carrots, chunked | 1 1/2 cups water |
2 beef boullion cubes | 1/2 tsp pepper |
Brown meat in frying pan (I freeze pieces I trim from steak); place in crockpot. Add 1/4 c water to frying pan and stir to loosen flavor bits; add to crockpot. Heat 1/2 c water and dissolve boullion cubes in it; add to crockpot. Cook vegetables in 1 cup water for 10 minutes; add to crockpot. Heat crushed tomatoes in microwave for about 1 minute; add to crockpot. Cook on low for about 3 to 4 hours. One Jazz player puts this stew in the crockpot to cook while he is playing a home game. Then instead of eating afterward at a fast-food place, he goes home and enjoys the stew--more nutricious.
