1 pkg milk chocolate cake mix 1/2 cup butter
3 egg yolks 1 tsp vanilla
1 cup sugar 1 1/3 c flaked coconut
1 cup evaporated milk 1 cup chopped pecans


Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease and flour three 8-inch or two 9-inch round cake pans. Prepare and bake cake according to directions. Remove from pans and cool on wire rack. Make frosting by combining egg yolks, sugar, evaporated milk, and butter in a saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla, coconut, and pecans. Beat until thick. Spread between layers and on top of cake. Makes 12 to 14 servings. The Barney kids would make a batch of this frosting and eat it WITHOUT the cake.
