5 c apples, peeled, sliced | 1/4 tsp salt |
3/4 cup sugar | 1 tsp vanilla |
2 Tblsp flour | 1 Tblsp butter |
1/2 tsp cinnamon | 1/4 cup water |
Use tart apples. Mix apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, vanilla, and water together. Spray 9 x 9-inch square pan with Pam. Place apple mixture in pan; dot with butter.
1/2 cup flour | 1/4 tsp salt |
1/2 cup sugar | 2 Tblsp soft butter |
1/2 tsp baking powder | 1 egg slightly beaten |
Combine batter ingredients above; beat with wooden spoon until smooth. Drop batter in 9 portions on apples, spacing evenly; batter will spread during baking. Bake 35-40 minutes or until apples are fork tender and crust is golden brown. Wait 15 or 20 minutes until the juice carmelizes. Then serve warm with cream or ice cream.
