Buttermilk Chocolate Cake
Desserts
2 cubes butter | 2 cups sugar |
1 cup water | 1/2 tsp salt |
6 Tblsp cocoa | 1 tsp soda |
2 cups flour | 2 eggs |
1 c buttermilk | |
Mix above ingredients and pour into 2 9-inch layer pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until top springs back. Cool to room temperature. Make the cheesecake from ingredients shown below.
2 8-oz. pkg cream cheese | 3 large eggs |
1/2 cup sugar | 1/2 c sour cream |
1 tsp vanilla |
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line 9-inch round cake pan with foil, letting edges of foil extend over sides of pan. Spray foil with Pam. Beat cream cheese until creamy; add sugar and eggs, beating well after each. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes. Turn oven off and leave cheesecake in oven with door closed for 1 hour. Let cool completely in pan. Cover and chill for 3 to 4 hours. Using edges of foil as handles, remove cheesecake from pan. Gently remove foil from cheesecake. Make frosting from ingredients below.
1 cup butter | 6 c powdered sugar |
2 c chocolate chips | 1 tsp vanilla |
Melt butter and chocolate chips then add powdered sugar and vanilla. Add more milk if needed to make spreading more easy. Spread frosting on first layer of cake then add cheese cake layer and frost; then add final layer and frost sides and top. This frosting is very rich, but you have to work with it to get it to the right consistency for spreading. Any chocolate frosting recipe could be used.
