3/4 cup shortening 1 egg
1 1/4 cups brown sugar 1 3/4 cups flour
2 Tblsp milk 1 tsp salt
1 Tblsp vanilla 3/4 tsp baking soda


Cream together shortening, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla; blend in egg. Combine flour, salt, and soda. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup pecan pieces. Drop by rounded teaspoonsful of dough 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees 8-10 minutes for chewy cookies (11-13 for crisp). Do not overbake. Cool on sheet for 2 minutes; remove to cooling rack. Makes 3 dozen 3-inch cookies.
