2 Tblsp butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp orange zest
1 Tblsp orange juice
2 cups walnuts, pecans, or blanched almonds


Conventional cooking: Melt butter over medium heat. Add remaining ingredients and stir until nuts are coated. Cook uncovered until nuts are toasted and glazed, stirring occasionally. Spoon nuts onto waxed paper and separate with fork. Cool. Makes 2 1/2 cups. Microwave cooking: In glass bowl, microwave butter on high power until melted, about 30 seconds. Add remaining ingredients and stir until nuts are coated. Microwave on high, uncovered, 4 to 5 minutes, or until nuts are toasted and glazed, stirring 2 or 3 times. Spoon nuts onto waxed paper. Separate with fork. Cool.
